Last updated October 10, 2026Tell, from Relay Research, finds podcast appearances by company executives and turns them into short reads for investors. This page explains what Tell stores about you and why. It applies to the Tell website and the Tell iPhone app.
What we store
- Your email address, to sign you in with a one-time code.
- Your choices in Tell: the companies you cover, the podcasts in your feed, your alert settings, and any podcast you request (with the note you add).
- Error reports from the app: when something goes wrong, the app sends the error message, the app version, and what screen or audio action it happened on, so we can fix it.
- Usage analytics: which screens and features you use (for example, that you opened an episode, played audio, or asked a question), linked to an account ID, sent to our analytics provider PostHog so we can see what is useful. This never includes your email, your name, what you typed, or what an episode said, and screen recordings hide all text. You can turn it off on the Alerts page on the website or the Podcasts tab in the app.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.
- The app doesn't access your contacts, location, photos or microphone, and it doesn't record audio.
Podcast audio
When you play an episode, the audio streams directly from the podcast publisher, the same as in any podcast app. The publisher may see a request from your device the way it does for any listener. Tell doesn't host or copy the audio.
Services we use
Tell runs on these providers, which handle data only to provide their service to us:
- Clerk (sign-in)
- Supabase (database)
- Vercel and Railway (hosting)
- Expo (app updates)
- Deepgram and Anthropic, which transcribe and analyze public podcast episodes. They don't receive your personal information.
Deleting your data
